“Innovative inventions and world patents
Carl Gottlob Erhard founded in 1844 his company, which expanded his sons Carl and Julius to a company of supraregional validity. With the production of fire-gilt bronze goods, the company established an industry that did not previously exist in Schwäbisch Gmünd. In addition to specializing in the processing of bronze, brass, copper and tin, articles made of precious metal were also manufactured. With the world patent for the production of brass inlaid (1904), the invention of the slicer as “Roulette” (1938) and the production of dollhouse accessories made of gilded brass, which were the major export hit in the United States between 1900 and 1910, the company finally won world format. This included the production of the two-wall insulated or thermos flask, for which the company acquired the patent in 1956, and with whose design she commissioned her long-time designer, the Munich architects, interior designers and designer Wolfgang von Wersin (1882-1976). The company’s extensive product range included consumer and luxury goods, pieces of equipment, church and cult items, jewelery and toys, as well as electroformed replicas of historic cultural objects. ”
